Not long after Turner sought to pick up 2 additional AAF games, there are murmurs the cable giant is interested in a slice of the NFL pie.
CNN’s Jeff Zucker is set to take the reigns of Turner Sports from David Levy and claims the division will “continue to be aggressive when appropriate and strategic.”
Turner’s sports portfolio includes the NBA, MLB NCAA tournament, the UEFA Champions League and a bit of Alliance football. It’s been more than 2 decades since the Atlanta based media company lost its Sunday Night Football contract with the NFL. Turner did submit bids for two out of the last 3 Thursday Night Football contracts, but stayed out of the auction in 2018 allowing Fox to secure a 5 year deal with the league.
It’s unclear in what facet Turner hopes to join the NFL’s family of competing partners- but another bidder (who happens to also have a budding B/R Live in it’s pocket) is nothing but good news for the League and it’s owners.
