TSN Stations Change Morning Shows Amid Budget Cuts

“According to Patrick Johnston of The Montreal Gazzette, two of TSN’s cuts are their morning shows in Vancouver and Ottawa.”

Bell Media made a slew of changes to their TSN sports radio stations Wednesday, dismissing multiple hosts across Canada due to cutbacks.  According to Patrick Johnston of The Montreal Gazzette, two of TSN’s cuts are their morning shows in Vancouver and Ottawa.

Veteran sports radio host, Dave Pratt is departing Vancouver’s TSN 1040 after nearly two decades on the air.  Since 2013, Pratt has hosted TSN 1040’s morning show, partnered with Brother Jake Edwards until this past summer.  After Bro Jake was dismissed, Pratt remained on the morning show with a rotating cast of co-hosts that often included Dave Tomlinson who also fell victim to Wednesday’s cutbacks.

Prior to his more than half-decade stint as a morning host, Pratt also spent ten years hosting the popular Pratt and Taylor afternoon show on the station which was called The Team 1040 at the time.  Without Pratt, TSN 1040 will use guest hosts for their morning show until April when they’re expected to unveil a new lineup.

According to Johnston, TSN 1040’s weekday schedule is expected to see 9am – noon hosts, Mike Halford and Jason Brough shift to 6 – 10am, followed by Don Taylor and Bob Marjanovich 10am – 2pm. with their afternoon show, Matt Sekeres and Blake Price gaining an extra hour in the 2 – 6pm timeslot.

On the other side of the country, Bell Media also dismissed Steve Warne, morning host on Ottawa’s TSN 1200.  A thankful Warne announced his dismissal via Twitter after his Wednesday show.
