TheScore, Inc., a digital media company that already runs a scores and stats based app, is about to get into the gaming business. The company announced on Wednesday that it intends to launch a New Jersey-based sports gambling app.
The company is utilizing two partnerships in the endeavor. The first is the Monmouth Park Racetrack, which will serve as the land-based partner for theScore’s gambling app. The two entities have signed a fifteen year agreement.
Bet.works is the other partner. The startup will provide a sports gambling platform for theScore, Inc to take bets.
TheScore has had its eyes on sports gambling for quite a while. David Wang, a pioneer in the online gambling field, serves the company as a senior advisor.
The target for launch is sometime in mid-2019. TheScore, Inc. would need approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement before the app can start taking bets.
