The Game Gets Extensions for Falcons, Atlanta United

Entercom announced a multi-year extension to serve as the exclusive broadcast partner for the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL and Atlanta United of the MLS.  The agreement, featuring Entercom’s 92.9 The Game as the flagship home for the Falcons and United, will run through the 2023 season.

“We are proud to extend our partnership with the Falcons and United,” Entercom senior VP and market manager Rick Caffey said in the news release. “As the leaders in sports radio, we are committed to providing our listeners with premier coverage of their favorite hometown teams.”

Under the extension with Entercom, 92.9 The Game will continue to broadcast all Falcons games.  Wes Durham will remain as the Falcons play-by-play announcer, with Dave Archer serving as the color analyst.  92.9 will also provide pregame and postgame shows for each broadcast featuring Mike Conti, Hugh Douglas and DJ Shockley.

“On behalf of the Atlanta Falcons & Atlanta United, we are excited to extend our outstanding partnership with the Entercom cluster of stations here in Atlanta,” said Tim Zulawski, Chief Revenue Officer, AMB Sports and Entertainment. “From management and on-air talent to the station engineers, everyone at Entercom is aligned with our mission of providing the best listening experience to our fans as possible.”

92.9 The Game’s coverage of the Falcons will include head coach Dan Quinn joining their morning show, John & Hugh each Wednesday at 8:10am.  Quarterback Matt Ryan will be prominently featured on the station with three weekly appearances, Mondays and Fridays at 8:20am on John & Hugh along with joining the afternoon show, Dukes & Bell, Thursdays at 4:40pm.

The Atlanta United will also have their matches heard on 92.9 The Game, should there be a scheduling conflict, United games will be broadcast on sister station 94.1.

Financial terms of the extension were not released, 92.9 The Game’s previous deal to become the official flagship station of the Falcons was a three-year contract worth $9 million.
