Sports Hub, Bruins Raise $119K With Ping Pong Event

98.5 The Sports Hub and Boston Bruins’ captain, Patrice Bergeron held their second annual Pucks & Paddles event to raise money for the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center and the Boston Bruins Foundation.

The event, which was a ping pong tournament featuring on-air talent from Beasley’s 98.5 The Sports Hub and Bruins players, raised $119,000.  Fans were able to purchase tickets to the tournament and place bids for the opportunity to play ping pong with the celebrity of their choice. 

“Any time you have a chance to give back to the community, it means a lot, but when it’s about the kids, it means even more,” Bergeron said. “It’s a fun event. Last year was the first year. Everyone had a good time, and you can tell it made a big difference for the kids, so we’re happy to be here.”

98.5 The Sports Hub midday host Marc Bertrand and his ping pong partner won the single elimination tournament, beating Bruins Defenseman Matt Gryzlak’s team.
