Scott McArthur Joins SportsNet 590 in Toronto

“MacArthur left his 1 – 4pm show in January for an opportunity with SportsNet 590, but the move couldn’t be made official until his non-compete clause expired.”

One day after multiple TSN hosts were let go for budgetary reasons, former on-air contributor, Scott MacArthur announced he’s joining Rogers Media and SportsNet 590 The FAN.

For two years, MacArthur hosted a weekday afternoon show on TSN 1050 in Toronto.  MacArthur left his 1 – 4pm show in January for an opportunity with SportsNet 590, but the move couldn’t be made official until his non-compete clause expired.

MacArthur will be the third voice on the Blue Jays radio broadcast for home games, joining Ben Wagner and Mike Wilner in the booth.  The new Blue Jays announcer will also take over for Wilner as host of Jays Talk, the broadcast’s call-in postgame show.  In addition to Wagner, Wilner and MacArthur, SportsNet 590 has former ESPN Sunday Night Baseball broadcaster, Dan Shulman on the bench as a fill-in announcer.

“I’m like a lot of Toronto sports fans, I grew up listening to The FAN back in the late ’80s when it was still CJCL 1430,” MacArthur told the Toronto Sun. “I’m really excited for this opportunity and to join an unbelievable lineage of broadcasters. Anyone who knows me knows baseball is my favorite sport and I’m lucky to bring my previous experience covering the Blue Jays into this new role.”

Shortly after the announcement, MacArthur made his SportsNet debut Thursday morning when he joined the midday show with Jeff Blair and Stephen Brunt.
