A tweet from CNN’s Brian Stelter says that Darren Rovell is leaving ESPN for a new opportunity at the Action Network.

Stelter may seem like an odd source of information about the sports media, but he is CNN’s media reporter. He is usually more focused on the reporting coming out of Washington, DC than Bristol, CT.
If Stelter’s information is correct, the move makes a lot of sense. Rovell’s focus on the business of sports is a natural fit in the sports gaming world. It is unclear if he would be offering advice or merely reporting on the business of sports gaming. Having a say in content strategy may also be appealing to him.
Darren Rovell has been at ESPN since 2012. It is his second stint with the company. He initially left in 2006 to join CNBC. When he returned it was not only to cover sports business, but also get work on non-sports stories for ABC.
