Pat McAfee Joins WWE

“Since leaving football for broadcasting in 2016, McAfee has contributed to Barstool Sports as a podcast host and to Fox as an NFL sideline reporter.”

Former NFL punter and Barstool personality Pat McAfee has a new job. WWE play-by-play man Michael Cole joined McAfee on his podcast The Pat McAfee Show to make the announcement.

“The future’s bright,” said Cole. “It’s not just going to be Kickoff Shows anymore for you. You’ve got a lot of stuff coming down the pipe, I hope.”

McAfee has been a longtime professional wrestling fan. He would incorporate wrestling taunts into his on-field celebrations as a member of the Indianapolis Colts.

Since leaving football for broadcasting in 2016, McAfee has contributed to Barstool Sports as a podcast host and to Fox as an NFL sideline reporter. He has also been an analyst for The Kickoff Show for WWE’s NXT events, which Cole was alluding to on the podcast.

McAfee parted ways with Barstool in August. In a post on Twitter he said that it was because he felt he was “being disrespected by the business people in the building” adding that those people were not Barstool founder Dave Portnoy or CEO Erika Nardini.
