Brazilian soccer superstar Neymar has been named a global ambassador of the sports streaming service DAZN as it launches in Spain.
Neymar joins Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and Mexican boxer Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez among others as global ambassadors of the young digital company.
Spain is the eighth global market DAZN has reached joining Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, Italy and the US. Though social media streaming services have already begun in Brazil, Neymar’s home country will make for the ninth country with DAZN later this year.
“Growing up in Brazil instils a love of sports, especially football. Brazilians rally behind the teams and athletes they love,” said Neymar. “I think DAZN has the same type of passion towards sports and wanting to make it as easy and affordable as possible for people to enjoy. Sports should be available for everyone and I’m happy to join a brand that has this goal in their DNA.”
DAZN subscribers have access to streams of English soccer’s Premier League, the MotoGP motorcycling series and EuroLeague basketball.
“This is the dawn of a new era for Spanish sport fans as they join the revolution of flexible, accessible and affordable sport that we are rolling out around the world,” said DAZN Group chief executive Simon Denyer. “Spain is a nation of sport lovers and they are ready for change. They want a better way to watch and we are incredibly proud to be making that happen as we expand our rapidly growing international business.”
