CBS cashed in on the Steelers’ victory on Sunday afternoon. The 17-10 win over the New England Patriots is the most watched game of the NFL season. That is across all networks and all time slots.
The game scored a 16.5 average household rating and an averaged a 32 share. That wallops last week’s 14.2 average household rating for the Eagles and Cowboys, which was the season high. CBS has seen viewership of its Sunday schedule grow by 6% in 2018.
It is part of a trend of rising NFL ratings across the board in 2018. It should also be noted that scoring is up in the league. Also, before the season the league negotiated with broadcast partners to create better packages for the Thursday and Monday night schedules. Even if player protests were the sole reason for slumping ratings the last two seasons, it seems raising the excitement level of the games is having a positive effect on the situation.
