NBC Sports Chicago Announces New Deals With 3 Teams

“The deals are announced exactly two weeks after the Chicago Cubs made plans for their own regional sports network public.”

NBC Sports Chicago made the previously reported rights extensions with the Blackhawks, Bulls, and White Sox official yesterday. Each of the three teams signed new multi-year deals with the network beginning with their respective 2019-2020 seasons.

The extensions also include streaming rights. That means the teams’ games will be seen on the My Teams by NBC Sports app as well as NBC Sports Chicago. The three teams and NBC Sports Chicago now await approval from the MLB, NBA, and NHL league offices.

The deals are announced exactly two weeks after the Chicago Cubs made plans for their own regional sports network public. The team will launch Marquee in a partnership with Sinclair Broadcasting after the 2019 season.

As for the three teams staying with NBC Sports Chicago, David Preschlack said “This is a significant agreement, and we are proud to continue to provide the most comprehensive, multi-platform coverage of these historic franchises,” in a press release. The President of NBC Sports Regional Networks and Platform & Content Strategy says that the company remains dedicated to immersive, multi-platform coverage of all three teams.
