The Las Vegas Golden Knights are embarking on their first season, and Stanley Cup championship expectations aren’t exactly on the menu. But while playing for titles may be a few years away, the team will start their journey from the bottom to the top with a cast of talented and experienced broadcasters chronicling their every move.
The team announced today that Dave Goucher will serve as the TV play-by-play announcer for the Golden Knights. Goucher has called Boston Bruins games on the radio since 2000, and was named Massachusetts Sportscaster of the Year in 2013 and 2014.
Joining Goucher on Golden Knights broadcasts will be color commentator Shane Hnidy. Hnidy played in the NHL from 2000 to 2011 for the Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, Atlanta Thrashers, Anaheim Ducks, Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild. He’s been part of the Winnipeg Jets broadcast team since 2011 working for TSN Television and TSN Radio 1290 AM.
On the radio, Dan D’Uva will call the action as the team’s lead radio play-by-play voice. D’Uva has been the radio and TV play-by-play voice of the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch since 2012. Golden Knights hockey will be heard on radio on FOX Sports 98.9 FM/1340 AM.
“We are thrilled to have Dave, Shane and Dan on board as our first-ever broadcasters,” Golden Knights team president Kerry Bubolz said in a statement. “Each of them brings a wealth of hockey experience and will be an integral part of making Golden Knights broadcasts enjoyable and insightful. They will not only be great announcers in the broadcast booth but also great community ambassadors, bringing the great game of hockey to the Las Vegas community.”
