FOX Sports is adding a few new faces to their football programming this season. The network has confirmed the additions of former NCAA football coaches Mark Helfrich and Les Miles and former NCAA and NFL QB and ESPN radio host and television analyst Danny Kanell.
“We are thrilled to have Mark, Les and Danny join FOX Sports for what is going to be our best college football season yet,” said John Entz, President of Production & Executive Producer, FOX Sports. “Mark and Les give us decades of coaching experience and an inside knowledge of the college game, while Danny is a polished broadcaster with a great reputation. We can’t wait to get the season started later this week.”
Helfrich will call a full slate of games alongside play-by-play announcer Justin Kutcher and fellow analyst Petros Papadakis. The trio will kickoff their season on Saturday, September 2nd, covering the Maryland-Texas game at 12pm ET on FS1.
Miles, who originally said he wasn’t interested in moving into sports television, will make his debut during Week 3 of the season, joining play-by-play announcer Tim Brando, fellow analyst Spencer Tillman and sideline reporter Holly Sonders for the Northern Illinois-Nebraska game on Saturday, September 16th at 12pm ET on FS1.
After eight years with ESPN and surprisingly being let go amid company cuts in April, Kanell returns to the national stage to call select college football games for FOX Sports, starting alongside play-by-play announcer Eric Collins and fellow analyst AJ Hawk for Liberty-Baylor on Saturday September 2nd at 7pm ET on FS2.
