The Phillies will add an MVP to their broadcast booth this season. NBC Sports Philadelphia announced that legendary shortstop Jimmy Rollins would make his broadcast debut for his old team on April 22.
He joins a talent roster not short on stars. The former greats include John Kruk and Mike Schmidt.
“Jimmy is a beloved member of the Phillies franchise,” beamed NBC Sports Philadelphia Vice President Shawn Oleksiak. “His ability to connect and engage with fans is something really special.”
“There is an excitement in Philly about this team, as well as expectations, and I know what that is like,” explained Rollins.
The 2008 World Series Champion is tabbed to help out on a handful of broadcasts this season. He hopes to add to an already stellar resume, that includes 3 all star games, 4 gold gloves and the 2007 NL MVP.
