IndyCar Gets Strong Start on NBC

Saturday’s IndyCar Grand Prix on NBC averaged 1.07 million viewers – a 37% increase from ABC’s broadcast of the event last year.  That number was also good enough to make it the most watched IndyCar series event since 2014.

These numbers should make NBC suits very happy for two reasons;  1) it was the first every IndyCar race on NBC and 2) the network is gearing up for this weekend’s coverage of the Indianapolis 500 – the Super Bowl of the IndyCar season.

NBC’s top five markets Saturday were Indianapolis (6.65 rating), Ft. Meyers (1.87), Louisville (1.62), Dayton (1.58), and San Diego and St. Louis (1.57 each)
