ESPN has fired one of its most versatile anchors. Andrew Marchand of The New York Post reports that Adnan Virk is out amid accusations of leaking corporate information to the media.
Josh Krulewitz issued a simple statement to The Post. “Adnan Virk no longer works at ESPN.”
Virk hosted College Football Final and anchored Saturday college football coverage on ESPN. He also regularly hosted Baseball Tonight and the network’s college basketball coverage.
He is also an avid movie fan. ESPN Audio hosted his movie-focused podcast Cinephile. Virk also provided box office analysis and awards season predictions for GoldDerby.com.
According to Marchand’s report, Virk was escorted from the building by ESPN security on Friday. Richard Deitsch of The Athletic also reports that Virk is in the process of hiring an attorney to address what is remaining on his contract and other issues related to ESPN’s decision.
The type of information Virk is accused of sharing and who he shared it with have not been confirmed. Marchand reached out to Virk for comment, but his message was not returned.
