Entercom is launching a new sports brand on its digital platform Radio.com. Radio.com Sports will be a digital brand featuring some of the experts that make regular appearances on Entercom sports stations across the country.
Names are still being added, but former Yankees manager Joe Girardi, former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker, USA Today baseball columnist Bob Nightengale, CBSSports.com NFL writer Jason La Canfora, and Miami Herald sports columnist Armando Salguero are among the people that have already signed on to work with Entercom broadcasters on content for the platform.
“We have an extraordinary roster of personalities already assembled across the country on our all-sports radio stations,” said Entercom President of Sports, Mike Dee. “We are going to be aggressive to expand our depth chart of new talent as well as use our existing stars in new ways on multiple distribution channels outside of their home market, and in many cases, on our expanding digital and editorial platforms.”
Mercedes-Benz is the first sponsor to sign on as a brand partner. Others will be announced later.
In a press release Entercom is quick to point out that Radio.com is a digital product only and “does not affect the CBS Sports Radio Network, which the company operates in a joint venture partnership with Westwood One.”
