Sister sports talk radio stations 790 The Ticket and WQAM 560 in Miami are shuffling their lineup to create a new midday show for QAM.
Josh Friedman of The Ticket and WQAM’s Alex Donno will both move from their evening shows to co-host the 10am – 2pm timeslot on 560. The Donno and Friedo Show will debut Thursday, filling their midday void created after WQAM decided to dismiss veteran Miami radio host Orlando Alzugaray last month. Alzugaray has since launched a podcast.
“I’d like to share some very big news,” Friedman posted to Twitter on Wednesday. “Starting tomorrow, I’ll be shifting over to 560 WQAM and co-hosting the Donno and Friedo Show with Alex Donno weekdays from 10a-2p. We’ll be greatly aided by our terrific producer, Alex Solana. We are very excited to get this underway!!”
Donno shared his new partner’s excitement Wednesday night, adding “Can’t sleep. It’s like the night before the first day at school.”
No permanent replacements have been announced for either station’s evening shows with The Ticket now having 7 – 10pm open and WQAM needing to fill the 6 – 10pm slot on nights when no games are being carried. Friedman had been with The Ticket for 13 years, now joining sister station WQAM which has been Donno’s radio home for the last six years.
