Billy Corben, the director behind The U and Cocaine Cowboys gives all the credit on his latest film to Alex Rodriguez. Interestingly enough, Screwball details the Biogenesis scandal that rocked Major League Baseball and left A-Rod looking like the goat – the unflattering form of the word.
“It was actually Alex Rodriguez’s idea. I got a call from his publicist around November of 2013 right in the midst of the arbitration,” explained Corben.
The director goes onto explain how Rodriguez offered up intimate information to Corben and his team about one of the most bizarre stories in recent sports history. Rodriguez, the star of the documentary, has made huge strides towards turning his public image around in the ten years since the story broke.
The documentary premiered Friday in theaters and will be available on video-on-demand services on April 5.
