Des Moines Host Killed In Traffic Accident

“According to state police, Miller was stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 80, being fatally hit by the passing semi-truck after exiting his 1996 Ford Explorer.”

Iowa sports radio host, Gantry “Wolfgang” Miller was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a semitrailer.  Miller co-hosted The Drive with Wolfgang and Steen on 1700 The Champ in Des Moines.

According to state police, Miller was stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 80, being fatally hit by the passing semi-truck after exiting his 1996 Ford Explorer.  Miller died at the scene of the accident which is still under investigation.  It’s unknown if semi driver, 67-year old Terry Peters will face charges.

“It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our dear friend and fellow broadcaster, Gantry “Wolfgang” Miller,” 1700 The Champ released on Tuesday. “Wolfgang was co-host of “The Drive with Wolfgang and Steen” on 1700 The Champ. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”

According to the station, Wolfgang was an Iowa sports radio on-air contributor for more than a decade.  Many listeners and media members weighed in on Twitter Tuesday, expressing sadness and condolences to Miller’s family.
