With Matt Shepard joining the Detroit Tigers television booth as their full-time play-by-play voice this season, his popular syndicated radio show, Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave will need a new host.
The Michigan Media Network, which syndicates Shepard’s statewide show, announced Sean Baligian will be the new full-time host of Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave. With Baligian at the helm, the show will get a new name which hasn’t been decided on yet.
“There are very few people in the industry that have the ability, experience and knowledge to entertain Michigan sports fans for three hours,” said Marty Booher of the Michigan Media Network. “Shep and I both believe Sean is that guy.”
A Michigan radio host for more than two-decades, Baligian has regularly filled-in for Shepard. During his career, Baligian has served as a full-time sports radio host with both ESPN 96.1 in Grand Rapids and Detroit’s WDFN The FAN, which is a current affiliate of Shepard’s show.
Although he’ll no longer be hosting the long-running Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave, Shepard will continue to be an investor in the Michigan Media Network, according to The Detroit News. “I’m happy and proud to be able to bring him on,” Shepard said regarding Baligian taking over the program.
Through the Michigan Media Network, Shep, Shower ‘N’ Shave currently broadcasts from 6 – 9am in several markets including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Kalamazoo and Mount Pleasant, also being simulcast on TV by Comcast.
