Armen Williams was announced today as the new program director at Entercom’s SportsRadio 610 in Houston. “The opportunity to be a part of the heritage SportsRadio 610 brand, at the home of the Houston Texans, is something that I could not pass up,” the Texas Tech grad and former in-game host for the Dallas Cowboys said in a press release. “My family and I are extremely excited to make the move back to the Lone Star State.”
Senior Vice President and Market Manager for Entercom Houston, Sara Frazier, called Williams “a born leader” and cited his “passion, enthusiasm and strategic thinking” as reasons he was chosen to lead SportsRadio 610. The move becomes official on Monday, January 7.
Williams heads to Houston following a stint in Denver, where he programmed 104.3 the Fan and ESPN Denver 1600 for Bonneville. Under Williams’ leadership, The Fan was both well-respected and a consistent ratings performer. His success leading the station earned him recognition as one of the nation’s premier sports radio programmers in last year’s BSM Top 20.
With Williams moving on, Bonneville has posted an ad to find Williams’ successor on its website. The move also leaves former 610 PD Ryan McCredden looking for his next opportunity. McCredden had programmed the Houston sports station since 2013 following a move from ESPN Tucson.
