Minor league hockey is coming to The Big 920 in Milwaukee. The iHeartMedia owned station announced a partnership with the Milwaukee Admirals to broadcast all 76 of the team’s regular season games as well as any playoff contests for the 2018-19 season.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome the Admirals to The Big 920 and the iHeartMedia Milwaukee family,” said Colleen Valkoun, market president for iHeartMedia Milwaukee. “The Admirals provide major-league entertainment in a fun minor-league atmosphere. Their fans are loyal and passionate, and we look forward to connecting with the team and its marketing partners on multiple stations and platforms.”
The Milwaukee Admirals play in the American Hockey League serving as the top level minor league affiliate for the Nashville Predators. The Admirals partnership with The Big 920 replaces their previous broadcast rights deal with Sports Radio 1250 WSSP, who carried the team’s games since 2007.
“We’re proud to bring Admirals hockey to a new radio home on The Big 920,” said Admirals Owner/CEO Harris Turer. “With the fantastic Aaron Sims continuing to call the action and all of the enhancements that our new partners at iHeartRadio will bring, Admirals hockey on the radio will be entering a powerful new age.”
Each Admirals broadcast will begin with a 30-minute pregame show hosted by Sims who as Harris Turer noted, will continue as the team’s radio voice. Milwaukee Admirals Center Ice, a one-hour local radio show which was previously broadcast on Sports Radio 1250, will move to The Big 920, airing Monday nights at 6pm. The Admirals will begin the 2018-19 season with their home opener on October 13th.
