The Los Angeles Chargers have new members of their broadcast teams for pre-season television and both their English and Spanish language radio broadcasts.
For television, games will be seen in Los Angeles on ABC 7 and will feature a new color commentator for 2018. NFL Hall of Fame running back LaDanian Tomlinson will join play-by-play man Spero Dedes in the booth during the preseason. Tomlinson was the number 5 pick in the 2001 NFL Draft and played for the Chargers until 2009. He was the league MVP in 2006 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2017. Hayley Elwood also joins the crew as the team’s sideline reporter.
Daniel Jeremiah will join the Chargers radio booth in 2018. He will replace former Chargers lineman Nick Hardwick, who announced his retirement in June, citing the weekly travel to Los Angeles as a burden on his family. Jeremiah has worked with the NFL Network since 2012 and is a regular contributor to NFL.com. Hardwick will join Matt “Money” Smith and sideline reporter Shannon Farren on the English language call on KFI 640 in Los Angeles.
Mario Solis is the new play-by-play man on the team’s Spanish broadcasts, which will be heard locally on KFWB 980 La Mera Mera!. Solis recently won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for sports reporting. Jorge Villanueva will enter his 25th year on the Chargers’ Spanish broadcast. He will be Solis’ color commentator.
