University of Louisiana at Lafayette reached a new five-year deal, extending its partnership with Townsquare Media as their radio broadcast rights holder.
“We are very excited to benefit from yet another area of expertise of Learfield and Ragin’ Cajuns Sports Properties,” UL athletic director Bryan Maggard said in a statement from the school. “Their knowledge, coupled with a continued relationship with Townsquare Media, will provide an outstanding platform to reach the Ragin’ Cajuns fan base, while enhancing our overall brand throughout Lafayette, Acadiana and the state of Louisiana.”
According to The Daily Advertiser, UL’s radio broadcast booths will be mostly unchanged. Jay Walker will remain the radio play-by-play voice of Ragin’ Cajuns football, men’s basketball and baseball. Former UL wide receiver, Richie Falgout will join Walker as the color analyst for Cajuns’ football. Sports talk radio host Steve Peloquin will also continue his longtime role of calling Cajun softball games.
UL football and men’s basketball games will be broadcast on KHXT 107.9 FM, with 1420 AM carrying women’s basketball and softball games.
Townsquare Lafayette Market President Mike Grimsley reacted to the agreement stating, “We’re excited to sign this new five-year agreement with the Ragin’ Cajuns and Learfield. As the flagship and proud supporter of the University for the last 25 years, we look forward to another 25 years. Geaux Cajuns!”
