Impact Radio Group pulled the plug this morning on ESPN Boise. The station was heard on 101.9 HD2 as well as a translator at 99.1 FM. The lineup included Golic and Wingo, Dan LeBatard, Will Cain and a local show called The Drive, which was hosted by Alex Gold and ESPN Boise program director Joey Jenkins, who issued this statement on the format flip.
Being a part of the ESPN Sports Network has been a great experience and opportunity. Co-hosting The Drive alongside the talented Alex Gold has been a high point of my radio career and we are both excited for the new challenges that lie ahead for us individually.
The new station will be called I-Rock 99.1 and focus on mainstream rock artists. Impact Radio Group CEO Carrell Carton addressed the format change in a press release.
We want to thank all of our fans and loyal sponsors of ESPN BOISE for all of their support these past six years. The decision to change the format was not an easy one, but we are thrilled to bring the Treasure Valley community the true Rock station they have asked for and deserve.
