The NBA 2K League tipped off its inaugural season this week. The 17 team professional eSports league includes the New York Knicks owned organization, “Knicks Gaming.”
Beginning May 8th at 10:00pm, MSG Networks will debut a series following the Knicks’ eSports franchise, airing every Tuesday during the 15-week season.
“MSG Networks is excited to bring viewers and gamers unique access to New York’s newest professional franchise, Knicks Gaming,” said Kevin Marotta, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Content Strategy, MSG Networks. “With the dramatic rise in popularity of eSports, we have a great opportunity to share with fans all the behind-the-scenes interaction among the team, and their weekly preparation for games.”
Jerry Ferrara, most famous for his role as “Turtle” in the show Entourage, represents “Knicks Gaming” as their head scout. Ferrara will be prominently featured on the MSG show throughout the 15-week season. The series will profile the teams’ six professionals and offer fans behind-the-scenes coverage.
The “Knicks Gaming” roster of professional gamers includes Dayvon Curry, Nate Kahl, Eric Ward, Adam Kudeimats, Idris Richardson and Marc Rodriguez. Exclusive footage from the Knicks Gaming Training Center will also be featured during each episode, providing fans with a glimpse of the team’s practice and preparation.
The season started May 1st with “THE TIPOFF” tournament. Each team will play a minimum of 19 games during the 15-week season with all matchups taking place at the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel in New York City.
