Mike Greenberg’s TV Show Has a Name

Mike Greenberg’s new ESPN morning show, which has been rumored and reported for nearly a year, finally has a name. The new program will be called “Get Up.”

“It’s a terrific title because it can mean a lot of different things – not just ‘wake up’ but ‘let’s get going and be the best we can be today,'” Greenberg told the Chicago Tribune via text. “Get up with Greeny and Beadle and Jalen. It’s perfect.”

Greenberg’s new show also means it’s the end of an era. After 18 years, the final day for the popular Mike and Mike in the Morning show will be this Friday, November 17th. Greenberg was asked by Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune whether or not they have a plan for how it will end.

“I absolutely do not,” Greenberg said. “I’ve never scripted anything, in 18 years. I do write a little open to our show, the first 15 seconds. Otherwise everything comes from the heart, and that’s what I plan to do that day.”

When “Get Up” was first rumored, it was unclear if it would be a solo hosted show, or with a partner. In September, it was announced Michelle Beadle and Jalen Rose would join Greeny in hosting the new ESPN morning TV show. Regarding the possibility of doing the show by himself, Greenberg said, “In my opinion there’s no person, and certainly not me, who could do a solo show in the morning. I don’t think we’re in that place in television right now. I think people expect the pacing and the energy that can only come from a group of people.“

“Get Up” will air from 7-10am ET on ESPN, as well as simulcast on SiriusXM each weekday. Greenberg’s time with Mike and Mike in the Morning is quickly coming to a close, his new show has an official name, but when “Get Up” will debut on the network still remains in question. Originally planned for a January 1st launch date, the premiere was pushed back months due to delays in building ESPN’s New York campus.
