The NFL Network is ready to try again in morning drive. After placing its former morning show “NFL AM” on hiatus last April, the Sports Business Journal reports that the NFL Network will debut a brand new morning show titled “Good Morning Football” starting Monday August 1st.
The new program will feature four hosts; Peter Schrager (formerly of Fox), Kay Adams (formerly of NBC), Kyle Brandt (formerly of “The Jim Rome Show”) and former NFL Wide Receiver Nate Burleson. The show will feature a mixture of breaking news, local stories, entertainment topics, and it will originate from CBS’ studios in New York City.
Another interesting addition is Executive Producer Michael Davies, who has worked on the popular podcasts “Men In Blazers” and “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”. Davies says he wants to show footage that others aren’t, and discover humor on a regular basis. The daily goal is to create content that becomes famous.
One interesting item of note is that the new cast is relatively young. All of the on-air talent are in their 30s. Davies said that will be a factor in making sure the program exists and connects beyond video.
“We want this to be more than a TV show,” he said. “We are a digital brand, as well. We expect our hosts to communicate with our audience on social media 24/7, 365. That is very important.”
