Trent Dilfer Expected To Leave ESPN

The rough week continues for ESPN. After learning that Mike Tirico would be leaving for NBC, and Skip Bayless announced he wouldn’t return at the end of his contract (he’s expected to join Fox Sports), it appears that NFL Analyst Trent Dilfer is departing as well.

According to the New York Daily News, Dilfer and ESPN have had issues over money, and the talented and popular analyst who contributes to “Monday Night Countdown” is expected to leave.

Dilfer has been with ESPN since July 2008. Prior to that he spent two years contributing to the NFL Network. Could a return to the league run channel be an option? Or will he seek to connect with Jamie Horowitz and contribute to FS1? There’s also the option of pursuing more work as a game analyst for CBS or NBC.

Only time will tell where Dilfer turns up, but given his talents there should be no shortage of suitors.
