Brittany Devane is leaving WVII ABC 7 Bangor/WFVX Fox 22 in Bangor, where she has been a sports reporter, weekend sports anchor and news reporter for a similar position at WRGB CBS6 in Albany, New York.
Her last day will be Aug. 1, and she will begin her new job on Aug. 10. She will be replaced by recent Indiana University graduate Matt Randall.
“I’m so excited about it. In this business, it’s the next step I needed to take. It’s such a good opportunity for me market-wise and in terms of placement because I want to stay on the East Coast,” said Devane, 24, a Framingham, Massachusetts, native who joined the ABC 7/Fox 22 team in August 2012, shortly after graduating from Boston University with a degree in broadcast journalism.
She agreed to a two-year contract and said she would be making more money in Albany.
Bangor is ranked 156th in the Nielsen TV Market rankings with 133,890 homes, while the Albany-Schenectady-Troy market is 58th with 532,890 homes.
“We hate to see her go,” ABC 7/Fox 22 news director Craig Colson said. “She has been a great member of the team. I have watched her grow immensely, and there is no question she is going to be a big success out there with what the future holds for her.”
She will be a sports reporter/sports anchor and producer at WRGB CBS6.
“I’m not sure how I will be splitting my time. I’ll be doing what I’ve been doing here — something different every day,” Devane said.
