Sports Illustrated TV Partners with MLB

Sports Illustrated TV and Major League Baseball have partnered to bring original MLB content to SI’s over-the-top subscription video service.

According to the press release on streamingmedia.com, SI TV will have access to Major League Baseball’s library of games, documentaries and shows, as well as original content produced exclusively for the streaming platform.

“Baseball is one of the most beloved sports and forming this relationship with MLB to air acquired games and shows from their library, as well as make original compelling documentaries together, will allow SI TV to provide the most well-rounded experience for baseball fans,” said Josh Oshinsky, head of programming at SI TV.

The first four MLB library games available on SI TV will be known as “Ace’s Choice,” and shown in their entirety.  The games were chosen by the “ace’s” featured in each matchup.

  • Nolan Ryan: May 1, 1991: Arlington Stadium, Rangers 3, Blue Jays 0
  • Tom Glavine: Oct. 28, 1995: Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium, Braves 1, Indians 0
  • Pedro Martinez: May 28, 2000: Yankee Stadium, Red Sox 2, Yankees 0
  • Randy Johnson: Oct. 2, 1995: The Kingdome, Mariners 9, Angels 1

Original MLB content for SI TV in the announced partnership will be two long-form documentaries. The first project is titled 14 Back, depicting the 1978 AL East tiebreaker game between the Red Sox and Yankees, which saw the Yankees complete a 14.5 game deficit in the division, en route to a World Series Championship.

Sports Illustrated TV is available to consumers on Amazon Channels for $4.99 per month and fuboTV subscribers through their sports package.
