The TV simulcast for 97.5 The Fanatic host, Mike Missanelli, finally has a premiere date. Beginning Monday April 16th, The Mike Missanelli Show will be televised daily on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
The partnership between NBC and 97.5 The Fanatic owners, Beasley Media Group, was originally announced in December with a launch timetable of early 2018. The Fanatic’s afternoon drive show, which airs from 2pm – 6pm on the radio, will end one hour sooner on TV, allowing NBC to continue Philly Sports Talk in its regular 5pm time slot.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining forces with NBC Sports Philadelphia,” said Missanelli. “97.5 led the way in town to bring sports talk radio to the FM airwaves and now we are so looking forward to bringing it to television. The show will continue to provide the very best in sports analysis and fun, entertaining radio. I can’t wait for everyone to become part of it.”
The simulcast marks Missanelli’s return to television after being unceremoniously dismissed from his weekly role on Philadelphia’s local ABC affiliate in September 2017. Missanelli stated it was “unnatural” to hear Beth Mowins call an NFL game, among other comments.
The TV simulcast premiere comes at a good time for Missanelli, whose ratings fell behind rival station WIP’s new afternoon show, hosted by Jon Marks and Ike Reese, during the last three months. Missanelli regularly won the ratings battle in Philly throughout the last decade.
NBC Sports Philadelphia owns the broadcast rights to the Phillies along with the 76ers and Flyers, who both made the playoffs. The simulcast should help The Mike Missanelli Show expand its audience and revenue.
