Hulu has partnered with the NHL to be the official sponsor of the playoffs and Stanley Cup, just in time for the start of the postseason.
The announcement comes less than one month after competing OTT service, YouTube TV, partnered with both the NBA and MLB to be the presenting sponsor of their championship rounds. Hulu’s partnership with the NHL shows an expanded dedication to live sports coverage for the subscription-based streaming platform.
“Since we launched our live TV package, we’ve seen live sports drive a very large part of our growth, so we are especially excited to team up with the NHL to celebrate the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs – an event we know our viewers will be watching,” said Patrizio Spagnoletto, Hulu’s head of media and subscriber growth.
Through Hulu’s OTT platform, subscribers will be able to stream the NHL playoffs and Stanley Cup via NBC, NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), CNBC, USA Network and Golf Channel. The partnership is furthered by a national marketing campaign for Hulu, through the NHL’s digital and social platforms, as well as in-stadium brand visibility.
