Tina Cervasio Breaks New Ground at FOX 5 New York

A well renowned sports reporter in radio and television, Tina Cervasio was named the lead sports anchor and reporter for FOX 5 New York, as well as host of the channel’s Sunday night sports program, Sports Xtra. Cervasio’s new role with FOX was first reported by Newsday’s Neil Best.

Sports Xtra began in the late 1970s when it was hosted by sportscaster Bill Mazer. The show’s most recent host was Duke Castiglione who left in November to join WCVB Channel 5 in Boston. Cervasio will be the first permanent female host of the program.

A New Jersey native, Cervasio has worked for a number of radio and television networks including SiriusXM, WFAN, NESN and MSG where she won seven Emmy awards for her work as a sideline reporter during Knicks’ broadcasts.

Over the weekend Cervasio acknowledged her new role by tweeting, “So happy [and] thankful to everyone at FOX 5 NY for this opportunity. Cheers [and] gratitude to my predecessor Duke Castiglione. I will give my all to carry the torch set [first] by Bill Mazer.”

Cervasio’s first FOX 5 New York broadcast came last night with Sports Xtra, a weekly show seen Sunday nights at 10:30pm ET.
