NBC Sports Northwest and iHeartMedia Portland have finalized a new content partnership which will lead to Rip City Radio 620 being rebranded as NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio. The confirmation was made today by Len Mead, GM of NBC Sports Northwest and Robert Dove, President of the Pacific Northwest Region for iHeartMedia Markets Group.
Starting in January, the companies will bring a new programming line-up to Portland sports fans. The arrangement includes combined simulcasts on Rip City 620 and NBC Sports Northwest television between 6a-6p PT. NBC Sports Northwest will also produce its own three-hour show within that time frame.
The joint weekday lineup will consist of Rip City Mornings with Dan & Nigel (6a-9a PT), NBC Sports Northwest’s own produced 3-hour show featuring Dwight Jaynes & Aaron Fentress (12p-3p PT) and Rip City Drive with Travis & Chad (3p-6p PT). FOX Sports Radio’s Rich Eisen show will be heard from 9a-12p PT.
All shows are expected to originate from a new state-of-the-art radio studio being built at NBC Sports Northwest. The new relationship between the two media companies brings to an end simulcasts of 1080 The Fan’s weekday programs which previously had been airing on NBC Sports Northwest.
“NBC Sports Northwest is dedicated to serving fans across all platforms, so we are pleased to join forces with iHeartMedia to collaborate on programming for Portland sports fans on both TV and Radio,” said Mead. “This partnership combines and amplifies the best talent and production teams in the market.”
“We are excited to partner with NBC Sports Northwest to bring Rip City Radio listeners the best in local sports programming,” said Dove. “Our combined assets will provide even more access for Portland sports fans across both TV and Radio including enhanced audio and visual content for Trailblazer fans all-in-one destination.”
