With Michelle Beadle set to join Jalen Rose and Mike Greenberg as co-host of ESPN’s new morning show “Get Up,” a void will be left at the network’s afternoon program, “SportsNation.”
In October, Fox Sports’ Charissa Thompson, who was mentioned as a possible co-host on Greenberg’s new show, stated she thought SportsCenter anchor Cari Champion could replace Beadle on SportsNation. Now, The Big Lead is also reporting, the SportsCenter Coast to Coast host appears to be headed to SportsNation.
Last spring ESPN released their new lineup beginning January 2nd, 2018 which did not include SportsCenter Coast to Coast. With the network’s decision to add more personality driven programming and less highlight/recap shows, a move for Cari Champion makes sense.
Champion originally joined ESPN in 2012 as host of First Take with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith. After expressing a desire to become a SportsCenter anchor, the network moved her to the position in July, 2015.
No official deal or announcement has been finalized. The move for Champion remains months away as Greenberg’s “Get Up” start date of the New Year is delayed indefinitely while construction on the network’s New York campus is completed.
