Ryan Leaf wasn’t a fan of the media during his NFL career. But that tune has changed since the former quarterback left the gridiron.
The former No. 2 overall pick of the San Diego Chargers in the 1998 NFL Draft is joining SiriusXM where he’s expected to contribute as a talk show host on the satellite company’s college sports channel. Leaf made his debut earlier today on SiriusXM College Sports Nation at 1 ppm ET working with co-host Jason Horowitz. His role will include making appearances on the station several times each week throughout the college football season.
Leaf’s NFL career didn’t turn out the way many envisioned, and he’s had his troubles with drug abuse and the law following his retirement, but he’s tried to reverse his string of bad decisions by working for a recovery program and starting a foundation to raise money for those who can’t afford addiction treatment.
Here’s to hoping the opportunity at SiriusXM helps him continue down the right path.
