Don’t expect to see Les Miles on your television screen this college football season. The former LSU coach acknowledged on Monday that he’d given consideration to working as an analyst for FOX Sports but ultimately decided after an audition that it wasn’t the right fit.
Speaking at the 12th annual Gridiron Kickoff in Montgomery, Alabama, Miles told the Montgomery Advertiser, “It’s a struggle when you haven’t had a censor button on the sidelines. You quickly find out I gave it the old college try, but it’s not going to happen.”
Many in media circles considered the “Mad Hatter” a natural fit for an on camera role. But while that doesn’t seem to be in the cards for the former Tigers coach, he isn’t ruling out a future return to the sidelines. Miles produced a 114-34 record during his time at LSU and is hoping that’s good enough to earn consideration for future opportunities.
