The clock has run out on Tred Hulse. After a lengthy run with iHeartMedia in Albany, NY, the local afternoon host was let go on Tuesday. Hulse had been hosting afternoons on FOX Sports 980 (WOFX-AM).
On Facebook, Hulse acknowledged his dismissal, “I was lucky enough to sit and talk with the late great Bruins radio voice Bob Wilson once and he told me ‘give it 20-25 good years Tred, you won’t be sorry.’ Well, I gave it almost 24. I was let go today at Fox Sports 980. P.S. iHeart haters this is not a pulpit for you to preach. Just wanted people to know.”
According to local reports, the show wasn’t generating enough traction in the ratings and revenue department, thus leading the station to make a change. A replacement has not been named yet. FOX Sports Radio’s Doug Gottlieb show ran in its place earlier.
Hulse spent 17 years with the company, 16 of which were spent as the primary drive-time host of WRVE (99.5 FM). He moved over to afternoons on 980 when Rodger Wyland bolted for local rival 104.5 The Team.
