The Las Vegas Golden Knights have found a TV partner. It was announced earlier today that AT&T Sports Networks and its ROOT SPORTS-branded regional sports network will serve as the official television home of the brand new NHL franchise.
Per the agreement, ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain will become the exclusive television rightsholder for Golden Knights regional telecasts of regular-season games, starting with the 2017-18 NHL season. The network will have an opportunity to carry preseason and playoff games as well. All games will be produced in high definition and contain a pregame show and postgame show, subject to live event conflicts.
“This is a landmark agreement for our organization, Golden Knights fans in Nevada and Golden Knights fans all across the Rocky Mountain region,” said Vegas Golden Knights Chairman and CEO Bill Foley. “I would like to thank Patrick Crumb and the entire AT&T Sports Networks team for their commitment to the Golden Knights and sharing our vision of growing the sport of hockey in Nevada and throughout the Rockies. The investment by ROOT SPORTS in cutting edge technology and their background televising the sport of hockey will ensure an enjoyable viewing experience during every Golden Knights game.”
“We are thrilled to work with the Vegas Golden Knights and bring the excitement of Golden Knights hockey into the homes of Las Vegans, Nevadans and hockey fans throughout the Rockies,” said President of AT&T Sports Networks Patrick Crumb. “Working with a sports team from its inception is an incredible opportunity and we welcome the responsibilities and challenges that come along with it. On behalf of the entire AT&T Sports Networks team, I would like to thank Bill Foley and Kerry Bubolz for their diligence and spirit of partnership throughout this process.”
Broadcast talent for Golden Knights programming will be announced at a later time. ROOT SPORTS says it will add other hockey-related programming featuring unique access to the team and its players starting with the 2018-2019 season.
