NFL senior Vice President of officiating Dean Blandino has informed the NFL that he will be vacating his position in order to pursue an opportunity on television. The news was first reported on Twitter by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
After the news became public, many suspected that Blandino would be added to CBS, considering that the network has been operating without a rules analyst since parting ways with Mike Carey last season. But according to Mike Florio’s Pro Football Talk, it’s FOX Sports who are hoping to finalize a deal with Blandino, and pair him with former V.P. of officiating Mike Pereira.
The plan according to PFT is to feature one rules analyst on site and the other in studio. Both Pereira and Blandino would also be utilized on FOX’s college football broadcasts.
