Longtime Tampa sports radio host Steve Duemig announced Saturday that he’s involved in a battle with brain cancer. The “Big Dog” as he’s affectionately known by his audience, is off the air while handling his health issues.
Duemig’s tumors are said to be inoperable, but treatment options are available. Duemig reminded his fans that he hasn’t been given a death sentence, and he’s committed to fighting the disease and returning to his familiar spot in afternoons on WDAE 620AM.
Upon hearing of Duemig’s situation, former Tampa Bay Bucs media relations rep Jonathan Grella sent out a supportive tweet with the hashtag #dogstrong. The saying has since turned into a rallying cry for Duemig supporters on social media.
BSM wishes Duemig a speedy recovery.
