The Ringer Signs Mike Lombardi To An Exclusive Deal

According to John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal, former NFL executive turned media analyst Mike Lombardi has signed an exclusive agreement with Bill Simmons’ website The Ringer. As part of the deal, Lombardi will provide podcasts, video essays and studio show appearances for the digital media company. Lombardi appeared as a weekly guest on Simmons’ podcast throughout the 2016 NFL season, along with contributing as an NFL analyst on FOX Sports 1.

“This was a natural evolution for Mike and for us,” said Simmons. “With talented people like Kevin Clark, Robert Mays, Danny Kelly and now Mike all leading the way, we know our multi-media NFL coverage will be as good as anything out there.”

One advantage that Simmons had in landing Lombardi was prior history together. The former NFL front office executive was a regular guest on Simmons’ BS Report podcast from 2008 to 2013, until he moved to Cleveland to become the general manager and vice president of player personnel for the Browns.

Altogether Lombardi has more than thirty years of experience around the NFL, and he’s demonstrated an ability to offer candid opinions without fearing consequences during numerous media stops. His addition to The Ringer should help make the website’s NFL coverage a regular destination.
