FOX Sports will enter the 2016 college football season with a strong collection of on-air talent, ready to bring the gameday experience to life. The network has announced that play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson and analyst Joel Klatt will return as FOX Sports’ lead college football voices, while adding veteran reporter Shannon Spake on the sidelines.
Johnson, Klatt and Spake will kick off the season on Friday, September 2nd, as Stanford takes on K-State at 9pm ET on FS1. The trio will also call the mammoth showdown between Ohio State and Oklahoma on Saturday, September 17th at 7:30pm ET on the FOX broadcast network.
“We are incredibly excited about this year’s group of broadcasters,” said John Entz, President of Production & Executive Producer, FOX Sports. “We have a great combination of FOX Sports veterans and newcomers to the network who all bring tremendous experience and lend unique voices to our game broadcasts and studio programming.”
Also returning to the FOX Sports broadcast booth are play-by-play announcer Joe Davis and analyst Brady Quinn, joined this season by sideline reporter Jenny Taft. Play-by-play announcer Tim Brando and analyst Spencer Tillman also return in 2016 and will be joined by college football insider Bruce Feldman. Additionally calling games will be play-by-play announcer Justin Kutcher, who will work with Steve Sarkisian, formerly head coach at USC and Washington, and Petros Papadakis in the analyst’s chair.
FOX Sports’ college football studio returns several familiar faces. Pregame, halftime and postgame coverage will be hosted by Rob Stone, along with analysts Matt Leinart and Dave Wannstedt. Newcomer and former ESPN college football analyst Robert Smith will also join the mix. Chris Spielman, a full-time FOX NFL game analyst this season, is also expected to contribute to the network’s college football coverage, as are insiders Feldman and Stewart Mandel. Mike Pereira also returns as FOX Sports’ rules expert.
