ESPN 980 Adds John Riggins as Redskins Contributor

A few days after adding Bram Weinstein to their weekday programming lineup, ESPN 980 is busy once again. This time, the radio station is strengthening its Redskins programming by bringing in Hall of Famer John Riggins. The former Redskins running back will join the official Washington Redskins Pregame Show alongside ESPN 980’s Kevin Sheehan, and make contributions to the majority of the station’s weekday shows.

Riggins, helped lead Washington to its first Super Bowl championship during the 1982 season. He set NFL postseason records rumbling for 625 yards in four playoff games. During his time in Washington (1976-1985) he piled up 7,472 rushing yards, the most in franchise history.

Upon joining ESPN 980 Riggins, “I solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God, well, most of the time…. maybe…. I think. Oh yeah! El Riggo is back. And, that means the circus is back in town!”

For all 2016 home games, fans can watch Redskins Radio’s Pregame Show with Sheehan and Riggins live from the Bud Light Pavilion at Fed Ex Field beginning three hours before kickoff.
