Houston sports fans will soon be able to hear Texas A&M football, and basketball on 97.5 ESPN, and 1560 Yahoo! Sports Radio. The two Gow Media stations confirmed a five-year agreement with Learfield to become the exclusive multimedia partner in Houston for the Aggies.
The deal runs through the 2020-21 season, and includes seasonal coaches’ shows, and daily updates on the Aggies. 1560 Yahoo! Sports Radio will also simulcast select football play-by-play action and re-broadcast all football and men’s basketball coaches’ shows.
“We’re thrilled to add Texas A&M Athletics to our 97.5 FM lineup,” said Gow Media CEO David Gow. “We are excited to participate in the passion and culture of the Aggies and couldn’t be more pleased to partner with Learfield on the broadcasts.”
“The greater Houston area is incredibly important to Texas A&M, given the large number of Aggies across the region and close proximity to Aggieland,” said Jason Cook, Texas A&M’s senior associate athletics director for external affairs. “Gow Media’s large broadcast footprint and its strategic affiliations with ESPN and Yahoo! Sports provide a tremendous advantage as we reach Texas A&M and SEC fans throughout the region and grow our fanbase even further.”
According to the Nielsen 2014 Media Report, Aggie fans have increased by 26 percent in the Houston market since Texas A&M moved into the SEC in 2012. Additionally, Aggie fans comprise 24 percent of Houston adults.
