For the better part of the past four decades, Brent Musberger has appeared on television calling some of the biggest events in sports. Fortunately for sports fans, he won’t be disappearing anytime soon.
ESPN confirmed that the legendary play by play voice has signed a multi-year contract extension which will keep him in place as the signature college football voice of the SEC Network. Musburger, became the first voice of the SEC Network when it launched in 2014. He calls weekly primetime football action alongside analyst Jesse Palmer.
“The SEC is the best football conference in the country. You can’t beat it,” Musburger said. “Terrific football, clearly—year in and year out. The conference has been tremendous to work with. I’m glad the SEC Network is such a great success. It’s been great working with Jesse Palmer.”
In addition to his work on the SEC Network, Musburger will also continue to call weekly college basketball contests on ESPN. The 2016 season will mark his 26th straight as a member of ABC Sports and ESPN.
ESPN Executive Vice President Production and Programming, John Wildhack, added: “This agreement will help build upon one of the most extraordinary careers in all of sports. The impact that Brent’s work has had on generations of sports fans is immeasurably positive and we are thrilled he will continue to be a significant part of the ESPN family, including the SEC Network.”
