With Sean McDonough sliding over to the Monday Night Football booth, and Brad Nessler expected to join CBS, it’s created vacancies on two of ESPN’s top three college football broadcast teams.
Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will return to call the marquee game on Saturday nights, but Todd Blackledge, and Chris Spielman have been left partnerless as a result of the moves involving McDonough and Nessler.
According to The Big Lead, solutions are on the way! Joe Tessitore, who called Thursday night games last year, and hosted SEC Nation and College Football Final, will move up to the #2 team. The #3 team will feature Steve Levy as lead announcer.
Most sports fans know Levy best for his work on SportsCenter. He’s built a strong connection to the NHL and NFL during his time at the network, but the chance to develop further as a voice on the network’s biggest college football games is too attractive to pass up.
An ESPN spokesperson has yet to confirm the plans, but the addition of Levy is sure to be seen as a positive by many who enjoy live sports.
