Heather Cox Expected To Leave ESPN For NBC

The Big Lead is reporting that ESPN is on the verge of losing yet another talented member of its reporting team. Heather Cox, who has been with the four letter network since 1994, is expected to depart in order to accept a new position with NBC.

Cox has appeared on ESPN as a sideline reporter for college football, NBA, WNBA, and men’s and women’s college basketball games. One of the reasons for her departure includes an opportunity to serve as a sideline reporter on NBC’s Thursday Night Football broadcast where she’d reunite with former ESPN colleague Mike Tirico. No word on which other assignments would be part of her new deal.

ESPN has been preparing for the possibility of losing Cox. The network previously announced that Sam Ponder would resume responsibilities as a sideline reporter this college football season, and be part of the Saturday night ABC telecast.
